Manually Colorize Parts of Your Images
Colorize photos online for free with a manual hue brush that preserves original texture, detail, and shadows. Paint over monochrome or color images using a brush similar to the Color Replacement Tool in Photoshop.
This tool keeps the original light and shadow information, so colors blend naturally into the image instead of covering it. This makes it perfect for restoring old photographs, colorizing portraits, products, buildings, clothes, furniture, cars, school projects, or creating realistic and artistic effects.
Few things to know:
- This tool does not use AI - you are in full control, and the result depends entirely on your interactions
- It does not work like a common paint brush that colors everything equally. Instead, it tints the existing image, so the original texture and shading always remain visible
- It won't color black and white areas, so midtones react the most. If you want to color these areas too, use our Paint Bucket Tool
- When picking white, black, or gray from our color picker and using the brush, you actually desaturate the areas to make them monochrome. You can leave one or more parts colorful to create the "Sin City" effect.
- Very bright areas (like pink, yellow, or beige) may not receive strong color even at 100% opacity
- The same color will look different depending on the color it is applied on - experiment to understand how it behaves
2 Options for Brush Edge
-
Soft Brush Edge makes the paint gradually dissolve into the surrounding area - good when painting hair or areas that should look soft.
-
Sharp Brush Edge creates a crisp and clear edge between painted and non-painted areas. This is good when you want precise coloring without affecting surrounding parts.
